Felix and Fingers had an opportunity to perform at the beautiful Baker House in Lake Geneva Wisconsin for a wonderfully intimate wedding.  When most of our weekends consist of 200+ guest weddings, it’s a nice change of pace to play a wedding in a historic mansion for a guest list of 25 people.  And the Baker House is more than just another venue to F&F; some might call it home.

Felix and Fingers: Origins

Baker House Entertainment

Rewind back to New Years Eve 2010-2011 when Felix and Fingers played their first ever show together.  Fingers, when he was known as “Mike”, had been playing at the Baker house since it’s conception as a fine dining experience on Lake Geneva.  For the Baker House’s first New Years Eve Celebration, Mike was tasked with assembling the best swing band east of Geneva Lake.  Due to a chance encounter at a fundraiser just a month prior, “Mike” contacted “Dave Radford” and assembled a 5 piece swing band…The Baker House is still thumping from that party (and all the other great parties they throw!)

NYE led to a consistent Friday night booking at the Baker House, where in January of 2011, the name “Felix and Fingers” was created in all of about 5 seconds.  Oddly enough, it stuck.  The Baker House then remained our home for well over a year.  We still dream about going back for “Fishnet Fridays with Felix and Fingers” just to re-live all the fun we used to have at this beautiful venue.

Baker House Weddings

Likewise, this isn’t the first wedding we’ve played at the Baker House.  Lake Geneva is one of the most popular wedding destinations for brides in Chicago, Milwaukee, and the midwest.  The Baker House, being a Historical Building, offers a truly unique wedding experience.  Though we’ve performed gorgeous weddings on their back lawn, today’s wedding was in the music room, complete with a baby grand piano.  Rev Marcia Boyer officiated (an F&F favorite vendor), and the ceremony was soon followed with a delicious meal (something I’ve always come to expect from the venue!)

The Baker House, along with it’s sister establishment, Maxwell Mansion, provide an entirely unique wedding experience.  This isn’t your standard wedding mill venue.  This isn’t the place to throw a 400 person wedding.  The Baker House is the venue for a Bride who wants a wedding with character and class (and of course, fun!).  It’s for the Bride who wants her wedding to be remembered as unique and different from any other wedding her guests have attended.  The Baker House is in a league of its own.

Dueling Pianos in Lake Geneva

We often get asked, “is 50 people too small for dueling pianos”?  No!  F&F perform for any size event, and this Sunday Wedding of 25 people proves it.  Honestly, there’s likely no better entertainment option for small events than a Dueling Pianos show!  Obviously a full band would overpower a 25 person wedding, yet with 25 people, no one will dance to a DJ spinning tunes.  However, get F&F Dueling Pianos in the room and the interactive show allows for sing-a-longs, dancing, and the ability to actually connect with the audience.  This is probably why we book around 4-7 weddings every weekend!

Till Next Time Baker House!

If you’re considering Lake Geneva, consider the Baker House for your venue.  If you’re considering entertainment, consider Felix and Fingers.  Great things happen when your team of vendors all know each other and work well together.  And let’s face it, with a venue like the Baker House, you just can’t go wrong!
