Thank you very much for taking the time to read my email regarding our experience with your company for our event on 3.18.23 at Nona Adventure Park in Orlando FL.
After reading reviews, and our interactions with Nate, we had the upmost confidence in a great experience.
I used the link sent to me and set up a phone call appointment as soon as it was sent, we did not receive a phone call, and after a few emails and a fear that you would not show up, we finally got an email back stating that we did not book a phone call during our performers “availability” so I guess that means we weren’t warranted a phone call or email.
Since we did not get a call prior to the event, which we were told was supposed to happen, we did not have any idea of who our entertainers were nor did they know anything about this event (which was made evident by their musical choices). On your online form we mentioned that it was a family event (which I spoke in great length to Nate about during our many phone calls) and how we would like our entertainers to engage with the children and play appropriate music for all ages. In their first set, which I will get into shortly they played “The Joker” by Steve Miller Band and if you’re unfamiliar with the song, the chorus is about smoking weed. I don’t know about you but I do not believe this as appropriate for children. Other than that the first set went without a hitch, or so I thought…
Our scheduled times were from 12pm-6pm to which I understood it as 2 sets with a break in-between, again that was not that case. Our entertainers started with what your company labels as “DJ’d” music for the first 20 minutes. The “DJ’d” style music, as the wife of a owner of a DJ company and a purchaser of this package, I assumed would be different music mixes etc, not "background music” which we have onsite already, what we received was a glorified spotify playlist.
When your entertainers got on stage around 12:20 one of my female employees told me that one of your entertainers went into great details about his day job, which is running a swinger lifestyle resort locally, in ear shot of our minor guests and their parents. If that is not bad enough, he was bragging to her about how much your company paid them to be there.
Their music choices were eclectic in the first set but then steered towards oldies in the second set, at which time I had an employee ask them to switch it up and read the room. They did so for the rest of the second set but seemed to not care the rest of the day.
Set one lasted from 12:20-1pm with a break from 1-1:40 (where we bought the entertainers lunch per your contract), set two from 2:20-3:00, set 3 from 3:40-4:40 and so on until they were broken down and loaded out by 4:57, to just play “DJ music”. To which I came up and said goodbye to the performers, one left with I am assuming is his wife or girlfriend , whom attended our paid event for free and without asking, and the other told me that it is hard to play a”family friendly show” and that this was not their "wheel house”. Which is dissapointing because when I spoke with Nate originally we talked about how I wanted to do a family friendly dueling piano show, and was basically looking for ex Disney performers to entertain our guests, to which he said he had plenty of and that your company has a long history of providing kid friendly entertainment.
As someone who has been to dueling piano shows in many different cities over the years, I would have to say this is the most disappointed I have ever been with the performers; There is no disrespect meant but they should know their ranges and the songs that they should and should not sing. Your entertainers were often very off key and flat. The gain on the microphones was so hot that when an employee was speaking to the performers, from about 10 feet away from the microphones, his voice was audible through the PA.
With all of that being said, please email me to discuss this further as well as refund options.
