Felix and Fingers got to perform at an amazing Prince-themed wedding at the Best Western Longbranch in Cedar Rapids! This wasn’t our first Best Western wedding and it was easy to tell that they really went out of their way to make the night special for the happy couple. The food at this wedding was especially good. They had a huge buffet-style setup with several local restaurants represented. Our favorite was the carved honey ham! Getting up to walk around also let us admire all of the decor. Everything was accented purple. The tables, our lights, even the bride and groom themselves! We didn’t know purple came in so many shades. Oddly, not one person requested Purple Rain. But who would want to hear about rain on their wedding day anyway?
A Playlist Fit for a Prince
No one seemed too upset there was no Purple Rain because we played just about all of Prince’s other hits that night. Kiss, 1999, I Wanna Be Your Lover, and Little Red Corvette were big crowd pleasers, but When Doves Cry brought the house down. It might not be Prince related, but our favorite part of the night was when everyone circled the newlyweds and helped us sing Billy Joel’s Piano Man.
We had such a great time at this Best Western Wedding. It was so fun getting to belt out all of our favorite Prince songs for such a great audience!
