Hosting a fundraiser takes a little creativity, some planning, and, for this one, the desire to make a difference in the lives of people affected by dementia. Felix and Fingers performed an amazing show at the Three Pillars Senior Living Community fundraiser held at the Milwaukee Marriott West Hotel! Felix and Fingers had a blast bringing in a full night of entertainment for a great cause.
Three Pillars Senior Living Community Fundraiser Waukesha
To begin with, Felix and Fingers would like to say the Three Pillars Senior Living Community Fundraiser was an incredibly well put-together event. Our performers for the evening were Jennifer Lee Knuth and Mike Sherman. Mike had mentioned to Jennifer that Three Pillars planned and executed the entire fundraiser themselves. There are 47.5 million people living with dementia in the United States. The Three Pillars Senior Living Community has served thousands upon thousands of families and residents for over 100 years. This not-for-profit organization provides residents with quality lifestyle. If you like to schedule a tour at Three Pillars Senior Living Community located in Dousman, WI please click here.
As guests dined on mouthwatering steak and perfectly grilled veggies, a touching video was played about spouses of people with dementia. The video was sweet, sincere, genuine and at times absolutely heart-wrenching. In all honesty, everyone in the room was in tears, including our performers. Furthermore, one of the people in the video actually spoke at the Three Pillars Senior Living Community fundraiser in person. This guest did not have dementia but her spouse did and he resides at Three Pillars Community. Felix and Fingers played soft instrument background music during a very touching speech. In fact, Three Pillars changed their lives with awesome support and care from the home and surrounding community. We had so much admiration for how brave she was sharing her story!
One thing Felix and Fingers loved about the Three Pillars Senior Living Community fundraiser were the live auction items. For example, there were only a few physical objects to bid on. Instead, there were actual “experiences”. These “experiences” ranged from a one night stay in a gorgeous cabin, to a meal cooked by a professional chef for you and 7 of your friends. Some of the “experiences” even featured “take-away’s” such as dessert or a recipe to try on your own! There wasn’t much dancing during this fundraiser but that didn’t stop guests from leaving requests on our pianos. Songs such as While He Still Knows Who I Am by Kenny Chesney and Afire Love by Ed Sheeran were perfect event song choices.
When it came time to execute the donation/live auction part of the fundraiser, our performers felt SO MOVED by the earlier video/message they each personally donated $100. What is more, this money was used towards purchasing animatronic pets for people with dementia. Felix and Fingers were told these “pets” are comfort animals and that some of the residents actually believe they are real providing genuine companionship. We were SO MOVED by this. Even after an emotional dinner, guests were still ready to have fun the rest of the night. Jennifer and Mike set the high-tech robot pets on their pianos and to the delight of our guests, they danced along to our show!
