Our humble dueling pianos company performs about 100 weddings a year, many in Michigan and the Grand Rapids Area. Some weddings are great. Others are just unforgettable.
University Club: Grand Rapids Michigan
The University Club of Grand Rapids is on the 10th floor of the fifth third building. From a room lined with windows over looking Grand Rapids, Felix and Fingers Dueling Pianos began setting up. Well, sort of.
The first 5 minutes were a little nerve racking as I literally ran laps around the building trying to locate a door that was unlocked. We were at a bank on a saturday and had explicitly been told that no one was in the building aside for the wedding guests and vendors. However, at the time we arrived, for a moment it seemed like no one was in the building, period. After a few laps of checking all doors and Dave calling the main line no less than 20 times, a Chef came down from the 10th floor to allow us access into the building. Maybe we were a bit too early 🙂

The University Club as a Wedding Venue
Loved it! The entire 10th floor is occupied by the University Club of Grand Rapids and is a beautiful venue. The banquet room itself is lined with huge windows that really make the space unique. The bar set up was great and the entire feel was elegant. Additionally, the staff (lead by Katie) were all rock stars start to finish.
Wedding Dancing
This was one of those weddings where people just danced. I don’t remember a wedding where so many glasses were broken on the dance floor, which is always a great indicator of how much fun people were having. Our world famous cowbell competition saw some letter strategies that we’ve never seen before. And the over all energy in the room all night was just fun. These are the weddings that keep our jobs fun!
