sydney brennan weddingThere was clear blue water, bathing suits, tropical drinks, yet here we were in the middle of Iowa on New Year’s Eve.  The wedding ceremony began in Florida, but when it was time to come home, I suppose they weren’t ready to get away from the water.  Besides, the ceremony was over.  The focus now was all about the party!  For this dual celebration, and they had no trouble keeping things lively.  To accomplish that, they celebrated at the Ramada Tropics Resort (and had great dueling piano entertainment, if I may say so myself!)

I’m sure that the bride and groom, the bridesmaids and the groomsmen and guests enjoyed some fun in the water park.  For Mike Sherman and myself, we did not have as much time to explore the water resort.

Why A New Year’s Eve Wedding Makes Sense

Now, if you’re asking yourself whether a New Year’s Eve wedding is right for you, ask yourself this.  Is there any better way to bring in the new year?  Sydney and Brennan welcomed in 2014 with their new commitments to each other and an abundance of love, of course there was also plenty of bubbly for all the guests to enjoy.

ramada tropics resort in des moines iowaThe resolutions we make at the new year, and the commitments we make for a wedding can certainly merge.  And if you are going to throw a party, here is a perfect opportunity to REALLY throw a party. And let’s face it, a wedding around the New Year holiday makes it that much easier to remember your anniversary. But most importantly, I can’t think of a better way to set the tone of the new year than by making the focus all about love. Isn’t that what we should wish for each and every year?

As per tradition, we counted down the clock and busted out Auld Lang Syne.  Which brings up the question, “Do you really know the words to this traditional song that you hear every year?”  Surprisingly, it seems from some research and experience (as well as a lot of humming at the party,) that it may be a song that we sing after we’ve been drinking.  However, since we were performing the song and not just participating, we played it flawlessly and with vocal harmonies.

Congratulations to Sydney and Brennan!  Thank you for having Felix and Fingers as your reception party entertainment.  Here’s to the New Year, and here’s to you both!
