She provided specific directions for the best load-in and parking, making it the easiest-ever load-in experience. The in-house sound team took care of everything except the keys, shells, and mics, ensuring a seamless setup.

During sound check, Kiley, a member of the Iowa Clinic team, introduced herself and guided the performers to their top-notch green room. The green room, which also served as a dining area, was well-staffed and provided a fantastic meal. The mouthwatering chicken on the bone with perfectly prepared risotto was a highlight and easily one of the performers’ favorite catered meals ever.

A Night of Musical Magic

QR codes on each table allowed attendees to request songs and send tips to Kiley’s team, who then relayed the requests to the performers. The coordination between the audience, Kiley’s team, and the performers ensured a constant flow of requests and donation tips.

The dueling pianos set was a whirlwind of energy, constant requests, and pure fun. Songs rarely lasted more than a minute before a new request came in, with attendees eagerly asking for their favorites. A memorable moment occurred when Kiley attempted to cancel an Iowa-Iowa State fight song battle, only to have the first request of the night be the ISU fight song. The crowd erupted with excitement, setting the tone for the rest of the evening.

Surprise Guest and Fundraising Success

In a heartwarming twist, Sean Boarini, an executive director at the Iowa Clinic and a former dueling pianist himself, had a surprise planned for him. The Felix And Fingers team raised a substantial amount of donation money to bring Sean up on stage to play a song. It was a nostalgic moment for Sean and a testament to the incredible atmosphere of the event.

Not only was the night filled with musical magic, but it also made a positive impact. Over $1000 was raised for the Iowa Clinic Healthcare Fund in less than an hour, showcasing the generosity and support of the attendees.
