Having played at the Par-a-Dice Casino on numerous occasions, I have become very familiar with the hotel.  Although I only live an hour away, our hotel rooms have always been provided by the casino, and it’s hard to turn down a room as nice as theirs.  Not only are the rooms updated and spotless, but the beds and pillows are incredible comfortable.  I always know I’ll get a good night’s sleep there.

On the lobby floor of the hotel you’ll find a small, but comfortable and fully stocked piano bar.  To be honest, I haven’t seen anyone play the piano there.  It has been locked every time I have visited.  Had it not been, I’m sure the temptation to lift the lid and lay down some relaxing jazz background music would have gotten the best of me.  I’m sure from time to time, someone is there to tickle the ivories.

Despite my claim to having played for Par-a-Dice on numerous occasions, this visit was different.  This time we weren’t in the casino, we were in the hotel ballroom!  Providing the Par-a-Dice Hotel entertainment was a great experience.  We played for a corporate event that was hosted in one of the hotel ballrooms.

And I thought I knew the hotel from head to toe…

Par-a-Dice Hotel Ballrooms

par-a-dice hotel entertainment ballroomAfter searching online about the ballrooms, I was surprised to realize that they did not mention them on their website.  Sure you can read about their luxurious 202 rooms and suites, or the fitness center, but unless you specifically ask about having your corporate event there, you might be finding out about it first from us, Felix and Fingers!

It’s time I tell you who we are.  Felix and Fingers is a dueling piano company that takes the show on the road.  Imagine live music with a big twist; YOU are always part of the show!  So many times we have been hired for corporate events and forewarned that their crowd may not be that lively.  I’m glad to say, we’ve never seen that side of the crowd.  We always ensure that there is fun, and this occasion was no exception.

Would You Like Some Jazz On The Side With Your Meal?

We often provide background music during dinner time, before we kick off the dueling piano show.  If you’re thinking farmers or those in the agriculture don’t like jazz, you’re wrong.  First of all, they are welcome to any kind of background music that they’d like.  They chose jazz, and they are lucky, because Mike Potts (the original “Fingers”) does not disappoint on the piano.  In fact, after the show, several guests were raving over the jazz music.  Which is not to say they did not enjoy the dueling piano portion.  But quite often, jazz is the lesser heard live music.  When you get the opportunity to hear a player as talented as Fingers, it’s a real treat.

Of course, being a humble guy, I’m sure he’ll give me a hard time about passing complements his way.  Yes, it’s true, the pursuit of perfection is endless.  We never get there.  But whatever, just take a complement “Fingers!”

Par-a-Dice Dueling Pianos

paradice ballroom weddingCan you guess what songs often get requested at a casino?  If you thought, ‘The Gambler’ by Kenny Rogers, or perhaps ‘Poker Face’ by Lady GaGa, you’d be wrong!  But that doesn’t mean we don’t throw them in from time to time anyhow.  For this event it wasn’t necessary.  The crowd had plenty of great selections for all to enjoy.  Now before I mention Margaritaville, promise me you won’t think, “Oh geez.”  Honestly, a lot of people like the song, even after they have heard it 100,000 times.  But they have never heard it like we played it that night.  We put a spin on the song, that had the crowd involved way beyond expectations.  We had the crowd competing back in forth between the men and the women to come up with a great ad-lib addition to the lyrics.  That night, the ladies got the last word in.  But for the night as a whole, we got the last word in by showing everyone a great time.  The crowd and host were not expecting as much fun as we provided.

So there you go.  Now you know of a new place where you may want to host your corporate event.  Heck, have a wedding there if you’d like.  You don’t need to go to Vegas.  Those ballrooms can accommodate a lot of people, and they can be styled to look completely amazing.  Check out that photo!  Not only do you now know of a new place to host your event, but now you also know of the entertainers to hire, as well.  So drop us a line.  We’d love to perform for you!
