The Union League of Chicago was the home for this Hawkeye loving wedding couple’s big day. We had a blast with this group. The Union League is a gorgeous venue. Felix and Fingers has been there before and was super happy to return.
Hawkeye Loving Wedding Couple
What kind of music does one play for a Hawkeye loving wedding couple? Well, for starters, this couple entered their reception to the Iowa Hawkeye’s Fight Song. And that wasn’t the only nod to the couple’s Alma Mater. The grooms cake was the Hawkeye mascot and they also had a banner that said, “Chi Hawkeyes say I Do.” Also, the bride’s cake even had a Hawkeye theme. Yes this bride and groom love Iowa and their university and especially its football team!
We were excited to return to the Union League. The decor is gorgeous and makes the venue even more extravagant. We’ve always been well treated there and know we will have an excellent staff to help with anything we might need. Their cuisine is just delicious as well. No Clinking Glasses Here
Instead of people clinking their glasses to make the bride and groom kiss, this group had to sing a song with “love” in the title. At first, no one participated. But as we were playing dinner music, a table asked us to play a song so they could sing. 
It started a trend and we had guests lining up to request songs during dinner. Then it was on to the dancing and the father/daughter first dance. They chose the song Dear Theodosia from the musical “Hamilton.” Wow, a sports loving family as well as a theater loving one. Could there be anything better?
As we transitioned from our dueling piano show to our DJ show, things really began to heat up. It was still going strong when we were supposed to end our set so the bride’s father paid to have us play even longer. We love to see everyone having such a great time that, of course, we agreed. For a late night snack, they brought in some Chicago style deep dish pizza. With all of the dancing everyone had been doing, that was a huge hit. What a great time!
