Felix and Fingers got to explore a bit of Land O’Lakes, Florida this past weekend and play at a beautiful backyard wedding. The couple spared no expense to turn their backyard into the most adorable little wedding spot. Instead of the usual catering, they brought in food trucks! Devin Davis of “The Kitchen” food trucks was whipping up delicious meals on-site. Our favorites were the egg rolls and pulled pork nachos. The ceremony itself was breathtaking. The bride and groom were both huge modern folk fans, and the bride walked in to You are the Best Thing by Ray Lamontange. Most of the decor was handmade by the wedding party and, as the sun went down, all the strings of incandescent lights really gave it a charming, timeless feel.
Name That Tune!
After the I do’s it was time for the party to start! We played some Name That Tune with various Disney songs, TV themes, and classic children’s songs. This was a pretty smart bunch–we couldn’t stump this crowd past a few bars. It was such a hit that we played a few more times between songs. One of our favorite moments was when the bride serenaded her new husband with Shut Up and Dance With Me by Walk the Moon. That got him–and everyone else!–dancing. I thought Neil Diamond’s Sweet Caroline would be the loudest sing-a-long of the night, but I underestimated the power of two sets of Jewish in-laws! It took about 30 seconds for them to coax everyone to get out of their seats and join in for Hava Nagila at the top of their lungs! It was a sight to behold and a perfect ending to such a wonderful night.
