From the time we got to the venue, the venue staff and planners were rude, unhelpful, and unclear with their instructions. The venue staff practically yelled at us for keeping a door propped open while loading in equipment, and redirected us to a further away door that actually made it more difficult to get the equipment in faster. When we asked them to help us find an outlet and extension cord, because the ones within distance to the rig setup were at capacity, they brought us a 2ft power strip. Just before the reception, Erica told us that the order of events would be 1. chill love songs, 2. tunnel + "can't help falling in love," 3. a short uptempo song to bring the energy up, 4. Russel makes a toast. The actual order of events ended up being 1. Chill love songs. 2. tunnel + "can't help falling in love" 3. We started to play an uptempo song but were immediately cut off for Russel's toast. Throughout the reception, the planners kept coming over and stopping us in the middle of songs, telling us to play something different or yelling song titles to play instead of whatever we were currently playing. They wrote out several lists of songs, none of which were on their "must play" list and half of which we had already played earlier that night. | |
Ask For Review? | Not a good idea |
Reason For No Review | I truly don't know what their actual feelings were about the night. We played mostly off of the list that we were given ahead of time, or songs the same genre, but very little seemed to go over well. Toward the end of the night Erica came up to me and "requested" more songs, saying "the bride isn't happy," but once the DJ set began Beth thanked Jake, said we were great, and they tipped us before we left. |
Blog Note 1 | The venue was gorgeous, and it was sweet to know Beth and Russel were getting married where they first met. |
Blog Note 2 | The evening was especially fun for the kids -- we got so many requests from them, including to play a live game of musical chairs toward the end of the night. Beth even hopped in for a game! |
Blog Note 3 | Nobody was able to resist a little bit of Sweet Caroline. It was a big hit! |
