Felix and Fingers drove out to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to perform at the amazing Iron Horse wedding.  If you are searching for an unforgettable, nontraditional venue check out The Iron Horse Hotel’s spotlight called The Yard.  This outdoor Milwaukee reception venue was the perfect location for guests to kick back, relax and enjoy an evening of outdoor fun and music.  Congratulations Kevin and Jennifer!

Iron Horse Wedding Milwaukee

Iron Horse WeddingFelix and Fingers pulled up to a transformed 100-year old warehouse in the middle of downtown Milwaukee. The bride and groom requested a full band to play at The Iron Horse wedding. Friendly staff greeted us at the front door directing our performers with their drums, guitar, saxophone and pianos to The Yard.  In all honesty, this was a perfect outdoor venue with incredible views beneath the soaring Sixth Street Viaduct.  If you would like to learn more about The Iron Horse Hotel please click here.

Due to the fact it was 100 degrees that day, the wedding party survived a ceremony in record September heat.  A perfect breeze from Lake Michigan kept everyone cool while vows were exchanged under a beautiful wooden pergola. After the ceremony, the sun went down to set the stage for a perfect late night summer party.

Summertime Singing and Custom Beer Cans

Iron Horse WeddingCocktails and hors d’oeuvres were accompanied by Reuben on the drums, David on guitar and Ted on saxophone.  In addition to some great background jazz, Chris and Robert played their pianos for the full band effect.  Furthermore, guests enjoyed an amazing, catered dining experience from Smyth restaurant located within The Iron Horse Hotel.  The Yard’s professional staff served a three course seasonally drawn Midwestern dinner.  Kevin and Jessica decided to go with the non-traditional sweets table and instead of a wedding cake there was a HUGE assortment of rice krispie treats!

Not only did the guests enjoy a delicious meal but they were now ready to party!  A large dance floor in the center of The Yard quickly filled up as Felix and Fingers kicked into some favorite dance songs.  Kevin (the groom) rapped a live, mean 1st verse of Ice Ice Baby by Vanilla Ice with the full band.  The crowd loved it.  We loved the fact the wedding party sang along to Yellow Ledbetter by Pearl Jam.  In all honesty, Felix and Fingers thought that was quite an achievement deciphering what Eddie Vedder said during this song.  As party favors, the bride and groom had custom beer cans with “Ale You Need is Love” printed on them for guests to take home.

More importantly, there was a touching moment when everyone gathered in a circle around the bride and groom to sing Piano Man by Billy Joel.  Being that it was an open air reception, the bride’s mother looked down with pride and love as the whole night was in fact dedicated in her loving memory.
