There really is not a more satisfying feeling in this line of work, than finishing a show knowing that we killed it! I don’t like big egos. Honestly, I’m a really humble guy. As much as I’d love to walk into every show and finish every show feeling like I’m on top of the world, I worry about things. I want to sound good, I want to connect with the audience, I want to have good chemistry with my partner on stage. There are always a number of things going through my head before, during, and after any show.
When Robert and I headed out towards Lake Geneva to perform for the Big Foot Country Club, everything felt good. From the moment I arrived, there were only good vibes coming from those who worked there and were setting up for the event. The grounds and building were beautiful.
Wanted Something Like Howl
The woman who was in charge of booking the entertainment had told me how much fun she had in the past at a Howl at the Moon show. She had been pushing to have Felix and Fingers at their event for a while, and finally got her way, so she was really hoping that we’d live up to her expectations. As it turned out, we surpassed her expectations, and she told us that at the end of the night. Everyone danced and had a great time. And we had a great time with them as well. Although we had less of the old-school dueling piano banter, we seemed to stay right in the pocket from start to finish. Everyone was having such a great time dancing, that we didn’t want to slow down that momentum at all.
Every song seemed to line up perfectly for the moment. With a mix of Top 40, Motown, Classic Rock, it seemed that we couldn’t go wrong. Again, I’m not trying to brag about it. It just felt right. Everything came together that night, and I’m pretty positive Big Foot Country Club and their guests enjoyed the night as much as we did.
That is a show I would certainly love to do again!
