We don’t generally assume an April wedding is going to be exceptionally patriotic, but when we celebrated with Kraig and Amber at the Baraboo Arts Banquet & Convention Center, we were proven wrong!
Baraboo Arts Center Knows How to Do It
I love playing at new venues. It’s always a mystery! The Baraboo Arts Center was definitely one of the cooler spaces I’ve walked into in a while. It was huge! It was all on one floor, but there were three separate rooms the we used. A room each for the ceremony, cocktails, and reception. This was a 200+ person wedding, and none of the rooms even felt like we didn’t have enough room.
The Baraboo Arts staff were all incredibly helpful and the food was top notch! Each room was set up with great attention to detail, and it was as though each part of the day was in a totally different venue. The Baraboo Arts Center really goes out of their way to make your event special.
Party Time at Baraboo Arts Center
On our pre wedding phone call, we were told the groom might come up and sing with us. That’s always exciting, because it shows off the couples’ personality a little. What we didn’t know was that his song of choice was “Bad Romance” by Lady Gaga. As soon as he started singing “Ra ra ah ah ah” the room was going crazy. Everyone then decided he needed to sing the National Anthem. He rocked it, and then we immediately pull off a killer transition into another favorite song, and I’m pleased to report it was the first time anyone had mashed up “The Star Spangled Banner” with “Baby Got Back!” If anyone reads this and has a video of that, send it to MSherman@felixandfingers.com!
Wrapping it up At Baraboo Arts Center
Well as most weddings do, it all had to come to and end. We had a lot of fun at the Baraboo Arts Center. It’s the first time a groom asked us to take a break in the middle of our show while we were playing. He said he was having too much fun and needed a break himself, but he didn’t want to miss any of our show! What a compliment!
