One of Felix and Finger’s most favorite things to do is give back to the community. Therefore, our performers Mike and Ben packed up and headed out to Ironton, OH to help out at the Hillbilly Gals Fundraiser. This successful event was held at the Ironton Moose Family Center 701 and raised a TON of transportation fund money for the Shriners Children’s Hospital!
Hillbilly Gals Fundraiser Ironton Ohio
What would be a better way than to spend your day helping raise funds for an amazing cause? Felix and Fingers performed at the Hillbilly Gals fundraiser a few years ago and everyone was excited to have us back for this year’s fundraiser! As Hillbilly Gals are part of the Shriner’s Hillbilly Degree, their sole purpose is to raise funds for hospital and transportation services provided to patients and their families. If you’re unfamiliar with Ironton, it’s a beautiful town. Nestled in the corner of OH, KY and WV, there were some gorgeous views driving in and out of this picturesque city. Furthermore, the Ironton Moose Family Center greeted us with smiling and familiar faces. Felix and Fingers knew the Hillbilly Gals Fundraiser was going to be a hit hearing it was a SOLD OUT show. It wasn’t long before song requests were pouring in after set up. Friendly staff helped turn the banquet room into a fantastic event. Above all, there were hundreds of amazing items up for auction. A Joker in Every Crowd
Did we mention dinner was DELICIOUS? With fork and knife in hand, our performers dug into some mouthwatering smoked BBQ meats and homemade sides! Prior to stuffing ourselves, the Shrinettes came up and helped us with YMCA by The Village People. We should have actually performed this song AFTER the BBQ feast to burn off some calories. It was great to see our audience have the Shrinettes spell out JESUS and HAIR. Oh, and BTW….the Gold BBQ sauce was indeed out of this world!
So there was a dry erase message board up for auction. And there’s a joker in every crowd. Apparently our audience was having a blast with this board as it was up to $80 at one part of the night. In fact, guests had fun with this board poking fun at each other (sometimes offensively!) while celebrating their group.
What is more, there were actually a few song requests written on the board that we got to play. Thriller by Michael Jackson had our audience on their feet dancing like zombies. It was great hearing everyone sing along to our show! In summary, we raised a TON of money for a wonderful organization and everyone went home HAPPY!
