Cincinnati or Bust
You may or may not know me personally, but if you do, you probably know I’m from Cincinnati. Â This is most likely because all of my Chicago friends constantly write on my Facebook wall about how terrible the Reds are and how amazing the Cubs are. Â It’s mostly true. Â Nonetheless, I was thrilled to be hire to drive out to Cincinnati to perform a wedding reception and ceremony at the Rhinegeist Brewery. Â It ended up being one of my most fun weddings, even though it was a solo show and not dueling.
Rhinegeist Brewery – What a Reputation
When I started telling people I’d be playing a show at The Rhinegeist Brewery, all of my Cincinnati friends and family were very excited for me.  They all told me how awesome of a place it was.  they weren’t kidding.  We were on the upper level in a banquet hall, but loading in I saw the public areas and there were people hanging out, drinking, playing corn hole (or bags depending on where you are from.)  I should mention that it wasn’t even an outside area. That’s how cool it was.  And read their description:
“Our name, Rhinegeist, translates to “Ghost of the Rhine” and refers to our place in the historic Over-the-Rhine Brewery District in Cincinnati. Built within the skeleton of the old Moerlein bottling plant (1895), we brew batches of beer that sing with flavor.”
Ghost of the Rhine! Â Awesome!
Party time at Rhinegeist Brewery
As I mentioned this wasn’t a typical dueling pianos show at The Rhinegeist Brewery. Â I was solo all night. Â This is always a fun time, but it definitely puts some more pressure on me. Â I can’t rely on a partner to keep the dance floor packed with me. Â I need to do it on my own! Â Luckily I pulled it off. Â Everyone was dancing all night. Â I took requests for a while and then at the end of the night I DJ’d for a while, which is also part of our standard Dueling Pianos show.
I love seeing all the unique ideas people come up with for their weddings, and my favorite was that instead of a “guest book,” they had an elaborate piece of wedding china that they had everyone sign. Â It was very cool, and I’m sure they’ll have that their whole lives! Â See if you can find my name!
