Cincinnati or Bust

Rhinegeist Brewery DancingYou may or may not know me personally, but if you do, you probably know I’m from Cincinnati.  This is most likely because all of my Chicago friends constantly write on my Facebook wall about how terrible the Reds are and how amazing the Cubs are.  It’s mostly true.  Nonetheless, I was thrilled to be hire to drive out to Cincinnati to perform a wedding reception and ceremony at the Rhinegeist Brewery.  It ended up being one of my most fun weddings, even though it was a solo show and not dueling.

Rhinegeist Brewery – What a Reputation

When I started telling people I’d be playing a show at The Rhinegeist Brewery, all of my Cincinnati friends and family were very excited for me.  They all told me how awesome of a place it was.  they weren’t kidding.  We were on the upper level in a banquet hall, but loading in I saw the public areas and there were people hanging out, drinking, playing corn hole (or bags depending on where you are from.)  I should mention that it wasn’t even an outside area. That’s how cool it was.  And read their description:

Rhinegeist Brewery Party

Best tip of the night! (And it all goes to charity!)

“Our name, Rhinegeist, translates to “Ghost of the Rhine” and refers to our place in the historic Over-the-Rhine Brewery District in Cincinnati. Built within the skeleton of the old Moerlein bottling plant (1895), we brew batches of beer that sing with flavor.”

Ghost of the Rhine!  Awesome!

Party time at Rhinegeist Brewery

As I mentioned this wasn’t a typical dueling pianos show at The Rhinegeist Brewery.  I was solo all night.  This is always a fun time, but it definitely puts some more pressure on me.  I can’t rely on a partner to keep the dance floor packed with me.  I need to do it on my own!  Luckily I pulled it off.  Everyone was dancing all night.  I took requests for a while and then at the end of the night I DJ’d for a while, which is also part of our standard Dueling Pianos show.

Rhinegeist Brewery Felix and Fingers WeddingI love seeing all the unique ideas people come up with for their weddings, and my favorite was that instead of a “guest book,” they had an elaborate piece of wedding china that they had everyone sign.  It was very cool, and I’m sure they’ll have that their whole lives!  See if you can find my name!
