Felix and Fingers have performed at many unique venues and the Laureates Hall wedding event was indeed one of them. This wedding was held at a century old Des Moines Public Library building recently renovated and renamed the Dr. Norman E. Borlaug World Food Prize Hall of Laureates. Not only is the Hall of Laureates located in Des Moines, Iowa, it’s a world class museum and conference/event rental space. Above all, this building honors the achievements of individuals who have advanced human development by improving the quality, quantity or availability of food in the world. Laureates Hall Wedding Event Des Moines
The Laureates Hall wedding event was held in the amazing Rotunda which, upon entering, left everyone breathless. Our performer for the Laureates Hall wedding event was Will O’Keefe. The Rotunda boasted stained glass windows depicting grain sculptures, harvest families and lunette murals tracing Dr. Borlaug’s life. As the bride entered the Rotunda, Will performed a traditional wedding march under the building’s original stained glass skylight. The Hall of Laureates is a large building and the Laureate Hall wedding took part in 4 different rooms. To begin with, Will played smooth jazz instrumentals in the Rotunda while guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres during cocktail hour. Furthermore, one of the other rooms held a delicious plated 3 course dinner and impressive dessert table. To be honest, we found the the salmon dinner expertly made with a perfect side of roasted vegetables.
A Gem of an Event
In addition to one of the most friendliest staffs we have ever worked with, the World Food Prize Hall is one of Iowa’s most spectacular venues. On the other hand, Lydia and Kirby along with their entire bridal party were amazing to work with. After dinner the crowd moved back to the Rotunda to enjoy our dueling piano show. It wasn’t long before songs like The Cure by Lady Gaga and Cold Water by Major Lazer (feat. Justin Bieber) had the dance floor packed!
Not only did Will play through the entire pile of requests on his piano but guests had a awesome time showing off great dance moves to songs like Can’t Stop the Feeling by Justin Timberlake and Handclap by Fitz and the Tantrums. Everyone had a blast!
