New Year’s Eve is always a busy day for Felix and Fingers, but I think last night took the cake!  As we prepared to ring in the New Year, all of us were playing somewhere in the Midwest.  Dave and I were lucky enough to ring in the New Year in Pontiac, IL at the Pontiac Elks Country Club for one of my favorite kinds of performances… a New Year’s wedding!  I can’t imagine a more fun way to welcome the New Year 🙂

The Pontiac Elks Country Club

Until yesterday, I’d never been to Pontiac, so it’d always been kind of a memorable exit on that long stretch of I-55 in my brain.  It was nice to finally get to stop there and see what the city has to offer!  The Pontiac Elks Country Club had a very friendly and helpful staff who made it easy to create a special evening for our bride and groom.  Perhaps equally as important, they offer a very spacious banquet hall, which came in handy last night… they had over 300 guests!!  We were happy they were able to accommodate so many; it makes for a fun evening!!

All set up and ready to dance the night away!

They Came to Dance, Dance, Dance, Dance

I think at just about every performance, you hope the crowd wants to have fun.  This was a non-issue last night.  I’m sure it helped a little that everyone there was celebrating the marriage of people they loved (on top of it being New Year’s Eve!) but we could tell pretty early this was a fun group, anyway.  When we first got there, I was a little curious about the number of pig-related decorations everywhere (even adorable pig-shaped cake pops!)  Fast forward to the best man’s speech, and we find out that the groom is actually a hog breeder.  The best man gave a very romantic (and hilarious) account of how he knew the bride and groom were meant to be, because the groom knew how to match two hogs together… and people couldn’t be too different!  We took our cue that they would be looking to let loose and have some fun, and the Pontiac Elks Country Club’s spacious dance floor was full all night.

Happy New Year!

I can’t think of a better way to cap off this year with Felix and Fingers.  It was the epitome of why we do what we do… helping people celebrate and having a blast doing it.  Thanks to the Pontiac Elks Country Club for helping us ring in the New Year with a bang… I can’t wait to see what 2015 brings!!
