Felix and Fingers recently dueled for the St. Jude Fire and Ice Gala in Peoria, IL. This event raised money for the school, and many community/parish members came out to show their support and have some fun.

St. Jude Fire and Ice Gala

St. Jude Fire and Ice GalaSt. Jude Catholic School opened in 2009, with the Dominican Sisters of Mary serving as teachers. They are committed to the students’ faiths, emotional/physical growth, and intelligence. The Dominican Sisters push their students to be the best people they can be while assisting and guiding them through their formative years. For information on the St. Jude Catholic School, please visit their website.

The St. Jude community is super supportive of their school, and all the guests who attended the Fire and Ice Gala were amazing and energetic. They lived up to the night’s theme of “red carpet” by showing off their best clothing; Everyone looked glamorous. The event was hosted in the school’s cafeteria, but we wouldn’t couldn’t tell. It felt more like a wedding ballroom than a cafeteria! It was absolutely beautiful, and we couldn’t stop taking pictures.

Music Competitions and Fundraising

St. Jude Fire and Ice GalaThe evening began with comedic banter between the Head Sister and Father. Once they finished introductions, they announced the fundraiser of the evening: a music competition between the Fathers and Sisters. The Fathers took the stage first and sang Ice Ice Baby by Vanilla Ice. The Sisters followed with a song from Sister Act: The Movie. These men and women astonished us with their talent and natural singing voices. We could have sworn we were listening to people who had studied musical theatre. We were honored to have been asked to play back up for the competition.

After the competition, we played a quick 45 minute set as guests mingled and donated. Quite a few people came up with requests, and we did our best to play them all. We wanted to make sure we gave the crowd the best of Felix and Fingers Dueling Pianos, so we played their requests between our classic songs like Piano Man by Billy Joel and Living on a Prayer by Bon Jovi. In the end, we raised $1,250 in tips, which we donated back to St. Jude. Everyone was so generous, and by the end of the night, the Head Sister announced they had surpassed their goal. It was great to be a part of this fundraiser, and we hope to be invited back again!
