Mount Zion Convention Center Wedding Mt. Zion Illinois

Mount Zion Convention Center WeddingWhile we’re seeing more wedding ceremonies incorporate new elements, there was a return to the classic reception set-up in the Grand Ballroom.  Moreover, this center is a multipurpose meeting facility that offers over 11,000 sq ft of unobstructed exhibit space.  The Grand Ballroom can hold as few as 10 people and up to 800 guests.  Furthermore, a full-service catering and experienced staff helped coordinate this event. Our performers for this event were Mike Potts and Greg Percifield.  In fact, this is a superb duo that play amazing and interactive piano shows for crowds of all ages. Stepping into the Grand Ballroom had us catch our breath; we thought it was simply stunning.  The bride and groom brought back traditional elements such as a seated dinner.  In addition to round tables, there were simple floral centerpieces so everyone could be seen.  From purple hydrangeas throughout the room to the fun head table decorations, it was a rustic yet romantic sight.  As butler passed hors d’oeuvres toured the room, so did guests to songs such as Let There Be Love by Nat King Cole and Dreamy by Sarah Vaughan.  It was indeed a laid back and enjoyable cocktail hour.

Delicious Pies and Dancing

Mount Zion Convention Center WeddingNot only were guests tided over to the reception dinner by a fabulous cocktail hour, but that holdover helped everyone transition from ceremony mode to party mode.  As guests dined on lemon garlic chicken with fresh chive mashed potatoes, there was a photo booth next to us being used all night long .  Felix and Fingers played songs such as Photograph by Ed Sheeran and You Can’t Hurry Love by Phil Collins throughout dinner while everyone chatted and mingled.  Dessert was unbelievable.  In all honesty, we have never seen such a HUGE display of DELICIOUS pies.  In our opinion (and we’ve eaten a TON of pies) the coconut cream was OUTSTANDING!

Felix and Fingers love interacting with their audience and had the dance floor packed with fun interactive games.  We love a good trivia game.  This is where a guest asks the bride and groom funny questions to to see how much they know about each other.  Everyone had a great time with this game laughing and helping shout out answers.  As HUGE music lovers, the bride and groom made sure everyone filled out their request slips for a fun night of dancing.  Greg and Mike kept the dance floor packed with songs such as Sandstorm by Darude and The Twist by Chubby Checker.  Who knew by the end of this song it would look like a 1960’s American Bandstand dance floor!
