Felix and Fingers captured the giving spirit and raised money performing at this year’s Purple Plunge Fundraiser. This was our second time performing at this fundraiser. Not only is Purple Plunge a non-profit charity, they impact the community by plunging into icy cold Lake Zurich. Purple Plunge Fundraiser Lake Zurich
Have you ever seen your boss jumping into ice cold freezing water? Felix has. Our dynamic performers for the Purple Plunge fundraiser were Mike Potts and Chris Heroldt. Mike eventually left his executive suite to take part plunging into an icy Lake Zurich. This was an AMAZING way for our performers to help raise money. And yes, Mike swam from one side to the other! How cold was it? The block of ice removed for the plunging area was 14″ thick.
We indeed love a wild crowd dressed up in costumes. Ready to party were a frozen Gingerbread Man and shivering Ghostbusters all peering over the bank into an icy lake. We couldn’t help notice other brave souls in chicken suits known as the “Crazy Mother Cluckers” wanting to jump in! Hence, this fun crowd raised TONS of money for the Purple Plunge fundraiser plunging for this non-profit charity BIG TIME!
Eventually everyone headed over to Scoreboard Bar and Grill in Lake Zurich, Illinois for a warm up. This venue had a heated tent set up and our performers were ready to warm the plungers up with interactive dancing and singing. Post Plunge Party
What a better way to warm up your shivering body from an icy dip in Lake Zurich than dancing? Felix and Fingers helped guests regain their body temperatures with a soundtrack provided by you-know-who. For the next 2.5 hours, we had the party tent steaming with songs such as Don’t Give Up by Peter Gabriel and Imagine by John Lennon. All around the tent were various raffle items and theme baskets set out for silent auction. Mike and Chris played whimsical music while using announcer voices to the highest bidder for the Purple Plunge fundraiser!
The best part of our show was this was a crowd that loved to sing. There were awesome high notes and raucous laughter heard into the night. Felix and Fingers had a great time interacting with this audience and getting them ALL to sing Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. To be honest, everyone said it felt like a music video! Above all, it was an honor raising almost $150,000 (yes, you read that right), for families/individuals in need of paying for cancer treatment. Felix and Fingers felt AWESOME being a part of the Purple Plunge fundraiser!
