Kilbuck Creek Lodge

Drive to Kilbuck Creek Resort

Last week, Jim and I drove out to a small town just south of Rockford IL, called Monroe Center.  We had a wedding reception at Kilbuck Creek Resort, and it was truly one of the coolest venues I’ve been too.  As we turned off the main road to drive to the venue, we drove down a beautiful road that was lined on both sides with trees.  I had to stop and take a picture, which was probably the first time I’ve ever done that before I arrived at the venue.

I pulled up to the lodge and found myself in a small parking lot surrounded by several buildings.  Though I was offered a tour by the staff, I wasn’t able to take them up on it, but I was able to check out a few of the buildKilbuck Creek Lodgeings.  The log home, where the reception was held, was a beautifully furnished room.  It had an upstairs and downstairs section.  Some of the cool things they had set up were a hot chocolate station (complete with peppermint and caramel), a photo booth (which had been provided by the venue), and the tables all had individually wrapped s’mores packs on them.  Throughout the night, the guests cooked s’mores over candlelight at their tables.  It was my first wedding that had the toasty smell of marshmallows throughout the night.  It was nice.  A great way to set the scene for the wedding entertainment to follow!

Party Time at Kilbuck Creek Resort

Kilbuck Creek LodgeOnce the party started it didn’t stop!  People were dancing all night to the dueling pianos wedding entertainment.  We started off, as we usually do with the first dances.  The bride and groom used some of my favorite songs.  The father daughter dance was “You’ve Got a Friend in Me,” and if anyone know me, they know what a big Disney nerd I am, so I loved it.  The mother son dance was a mash up of “Soldier Boy” by the Shirelles and “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” by the Andrews Sisters.  It was very appropriate considering the groom was in the Marine Corp.  One of the most memorable parts of the night was when we performed the Marine Corp Hymn, and the bride was singing along louder than anyone!

Kilbuck Creek knows how to do it

The staff at Kilbuck Creek Lodge was amazing.  I literally had four people come up to me and tell me to ask if I needed anything at all.  I often need to hunt down someone to help me, so this was such a nice surprise.  The food and drinks were amazing as well.  I’m not sure what was in the pasta they served, but the sauce was to die for.  The other building that I was able to check out was a building that I assume the bride and groom and their wedding party stayed in.  It was a very modern…. I don’t want to call it a cabin, but I guess that’s what it was.  It was great for them to know that after a night of partying, they could just walk outside and be in bed in about a minute!  Kilbuck Creek Resort was definitely one of the coolest venues I’ve played at.  Check them out today!
