Christmas at Kewanee Dunes

Kewanee Dunes with a packed house

Christmas is the best time of year and we really enjoy playing Christmas Parties. Christmas music is infectious, there is nothing like being in a large room, enjoying uplifting music as snow peacefully falls. Work events, specifically company Christmas parties can be tough to plan and organize but this most recent party we played at was a great time.  Located at Kewanee Dunes, the venue was close enough for nearly everyone from the office to attend.

Legendary Party Status

Legendary parties do not occur on a daily basis, but that is exactly what happened when Dueling Pianos came to the Kewanee Dunes. Everyone from the office was there, their families, people of all ages, making for a diverse crowd. There was even an ugly sweater dress code and some of these outfits were terribly awesome. The company was Big River Resources and they really know how to have a good time, almost as much fun as we were having on stage.

And of course, the snow was falling peacefully, creating a Christmas scene of warmth and friendship, sort of. It was actually a brutal snowstorm which could have dampened the festivities but people were too excited not to show up. Everyone from the company was there and no amount of precipitation would ruin Christmas.

Christmas Music for Everyone

As we began to play, our goal was to interact with the crowd as much as possible. There is something about having live musician/entertainers as opposed to a digital playlist, music really can bring everyone together.

We organized a fun contest called “Name that Christmas Tune”. This really made people happy and arguments were springing up, keeping everyone fully engaged with the music. One of the highlights was when we made people get into spirited discussions about lyrics to the classic, Jingle Bells. Helping to facilitate such a dynamic Christmas interaction made our night. Kewanee Dunes hosted a great little shindig and we are grateful the part guests chose us as their entertainment.
