Dixon, IL Hospital Party

Dixon, IL Hospital Party

Playing for a myriad of businesses, when we arrived at KSB hospital, we were prepared for a fun evening.  It was around Christmas time and the room was set up with all the holiday decorations. It might have been organized as a Christmas party but our music quickly strayed from the classic carols. The crowd consisted of medical professionals, mostly doctors and medical staffers who were anything but uptight.

Well dressed, and in formal attire, the guests certainly looked professional. As we continued to play, a more relaxed atmosphere enveloped the crowd. Interacting with the guests, we began to learn their favorite types of music. Although we began with some Christmas songs, the room quickly let us know that they were in the mood for more diversity. Turns out, doctors have a very eclectic music taste. They enjoyed challenging us with requests throughout the night, encouraging us to play every genre of music from oldies to rap.

Medical Christmas Bash

Most Christmas parties we go to, hip hop is not usually played, but the doctors at KSB Hospital were asking for all the classics. From Dre to Kendrick Lamar, we made sure to play their requests. It got to the point where we had to ask the surgeons if they bump this style of music while working. But it wasn’t only hip hop they wanted –  country music, jazz, pop hits, classic rock, the requests did not stop. And we were happy to oblige, playing off the crowd and creating a happy atmosphere that made this show exceptionally enjoyable.

Dixon, IL, the stage is set, and we are ready to play.

Dixon, IL, the stage is set, and we are ready to play.

As we challenged ourselves to play one song from every genre, the snowstorm outside continued to rage on. Many of the doctors had driven from as far as Chicago and as long as the music was being played, they were looking to party. The medical staff and professionals continued to dance through the night. When we began playing some top 100 songs, the dance floor became the place to be. We try to encourage as much participation as possible and it was fun to have a crowd demanding just as much from us.
