Lisa and Trevor tied the knot at their Starline Factory wedding event in Harvard, Illinois on a beautiful summer day. The bride and groom had seen our show several times before hiring us. The Starline Factory provided everything and more for their special day. Felix and Fingers strongly recommend Starling Factory to anyone looking for a non-traditional venue in the Harvard area. Not only was the venue itself perfect, but the staff was fantastic; so incredibly supportive, they did all they could to make sure Lisa and Trevor’s day went EXACTLY as planned. Lisa and Trevor chose close friends to do a reading during the ceremony. Our performers played a variety of soft instrumental music during these touching moments. An adorable touch to the ceremony were random placed baskets filled with tissue packets stamped “For Your Happy Tears”. We may or may not have used a few.
A Beautifully Quirky Evening
Since music was an important element of the day, Felix and Fingers made sure every song was performed on the playlist. It was clear the bride and groom wanted a packed dance floor all night long. Lisa and Trevor avoided cheesy songs you’d find at a wedding and had our performers playing pop hits during cocktail hour. Marry Me by Train and Love Story by Taylor Swift had couples out on the dance floor immediately. As a matter of fact, our performers were guessing from the packed floor that Halo by Beyonce won out over the pepperoni pizza puffs.
From the moment everyone joined the bride and groom’s first dance (Perfect by Ed Sheeran) the dance floor was packed. As festivities continued, everyone enjoyed a relaxed dinner buffet to a variety of background music while dining on steak and chicken kabobs. Lisa and Trevor wanted to avoid many of the classic traditions so they decided not to have a formal cake and cutting. Instead, fresh fruit sculptures, rows of delicious cupcakes and a chocolate fountain had guests very excited. Who knew dipping marshmallows into a chocolate fountain could be so much fun!
Birthday and Wedding Wishes
No party is complete without the right music for the evening. In fact, the bride and groom had some very obscure song requests that we LOVED playing. To start with, Reign of Love by Coldplay had young and old enjoying a beautiful, yet quirky kick off to a fun evening. A neat highlight of the Starling Factory wedding event was that Lisa and Trevor share a birthday. Our performers had a blast getting EVERYONE to sing them Happy Birthday at the tops of their lungs. A few guests even held their tea lights up in the air for that concert effect! It was an amazing moment to remember. Apparently our audience loved us so much there was a constant call for “one more” after our 1:00 a.m. finish. We were happy to oblige and closed the evening with a few Flight of the Conchords requests.
