Wedding rituals hold a special place within the Hindu family. The Fox River Grove wedding event was indeed a beautiful and traditional Hindu ceremony. Felix and Fingers brought their show to a private residence in Fox River Grove, IL. What is more, we love seeing weddings from different cultures. The traditions, joy and beauty of this modern-meets-traditional Hindu wedding were an amazing celebration for guests to remember!

Fox River Grove Wedding Event Illinois

Fox River Grove Wedding EventIndian weddings are always among our favorites with vibrant colors, rich accessories and meaningful rituals. The Fox River Grove wedding event was a modern celebration, but also filled with ceremonies and traditions to honor both families. Furthermore, both grooms held their ceremony at a private residence, making sure all 50 guests were comfortable at their backyard party.

To begin with, a Hindu tradition called the Baraat, had everyone singing and dancing as the lovebirds approached the pergola. Family and friends clapped and sang traditional songs as they walked down the aisle. Both grooms wore traditional clothes. Our performer played a variety of light instrumental music as flowers, rice and confetti celebrated their union. One of the coolest traditions performed was the Saptapadior Seven Steps. The couple takes seven full circles, walking clockwise around a fire, representing the seven principles and promises they make to each other.

A Sparkling Bollywood Evening

Fox River Grove Wedding EventBeautiful weather allowed us to perform outdoors at the groom’s parents’ home for a nostalgic evening. After a traditional ceremony, guests enjoyed a break during cocktail hour. It was during this time a mic was passed around and guests shared stories on how they knew the couple. Felix and Fingers had a great time choosing a few Bollywood songs from a play list provided earlier that day. Our performer brought in a new kick with Humma Humma, an old classic in a new package. It was awesome to see our guests learning new dance moves!

Two of the most common misconceptions about Indian food are that it’s all spicy and it’s all vegetarian. We beg to differ. The Fox River Grove wedding event had a little bit of everything. There was a spread of naan (flatbread) with different curries, samosas (savory pastries with spiced meats or vegetables), pakoras (fritters) and a dessert display, which included a cake, kulfi (Indian ice cream) and decorated sweets made from nuts. We didn’t know where to start. It was all DELICIOUS!

Both grooms LOVED EDM music and put together a dance playlist for when our dueling show was over. The fashions at this wedding were anything but subdued and the dance floor looked like a runway! Colorful saris, embroidered Indian suits and glittering jewelry SPARKLED into the night as we played songs such as Kala Chashma followed by Afreen AfreenAbove all, we wanted to make sure everyone showed their love and support by forming a circle around the newlyweds and sang Piano Man by Billy Joel. Everyone sang at the top of their lungs and had a GREAT time!
