Crystal Lake IL is the official home town of Felix and Fingers (both original members went to high school here).  It was an honor to be asked to perform for the closing celebration of Crystal Lake’s centennial year!  Set up outside the Raue Center, Williams street in historic downtown Crystal Lake was packed with people on a beautiful September Sunday.

Family Entertainment at the Crystal Lake Centennial

Felix and Fingers Dueling Pianos was hired by the city to close out the Crystal Lake centennial celebration for the summer season.  Our show was preceded by Raue favorite Mike Toomey, a stand up comedian, and the amazingly talented mind reader Joe Diamond.  After some mayoral remarks from Mayor Aaron Shepley (a good personal friend of Fingers), F&F took the stage on a lovely Sunday afternoon.

Outdoor festival entertainment is something we love to do but don’t always have the opportunity.  Compared to our weddings and corporate contracts, the outdoor events and festivals are much more relaxed in atmosphere, which can allow for a lot of comedy and interaction.  The highlight for me was when we had a married couple, one dressed in a Chicago bears uniform, another in Green Bay Packers, help each other through the world famous Felix and Fingers letter game.  The entire audience got a kick out of watching the couple work themselves into the letter E.

(Have no idea what I’m talking about – hire us for your event and you’ll see!)

Northwest Herald Front Page

Our Dueling Pianos show has been featured in magazines and newspapers, but the Crystal lake Centennial event resulted in our first ever front page picture!

Felix and Fingers – Crystal Lake Centennial Event

Newspaper articles are always a fun surprise at any age, and for the Northwest herald to feature us, we were exceptionally flattered.  What wasn’t flattering though was the picture.

Fingers, in his never ending quest to find new ways of expression, had this picture snapped during his interpretive dance to Disney’s Let It Go (what is now a dueling piano bar favorite).  Fingers didn’t see the photographer snapping shots at this time, and while he was engulfed in creating imaginary snow flakes with his hands, the Northwest Herald was getting some pictures he’ll likely never live down.

But hey, that’s what it’s all about!  We’re extremely appreciative of the article and the Northwest Herald for feeling it deserved a front page placement.  Looks like Fingers will be doing many more interpretive dances!
