Robinson Engineering 80th Anniversary
Before guests arrived, we had a chance to explore the venue. Robinson Engineering rented three areas in the Renaissance Chicago Downtown Hotel: a foyer, a ballroom and a rooftop bar. Each of these places followed the hotel’s modern theme, including square chandeliers made from various lengths of shards of glass. Our lights danced off of silver chairs and black décor. In addition to the cool interior, the rooftop bar had an astounding view of the city.
After guests had arrived, appetizers were served. No true dinner was planned, but there were enough appetizers to satisfy everyone. Appetizers included lobster cakes and some truly fantastic beef sliders. The ballroom even had a table with high-end hors d’oeuvres, which featured pickled grapes. Guests loved the array of food!
City Mayors with Sing Alongs
Once everyone finished eating, we began our sets. One man, sitting in the center of the room, mouthed the words to every song in our jazz set. We were so impressed! When we began our last set, everyone got up from their seats and sang along. The night turned into an energetic dance party filled with mayors from many nearby cities. One mayor, who called himself Tony Jazz, took a microphone and sang Rhinestone Cowboy. The guests clapped loudly and chanted for an encore. It was a fun way to end such a celebratory night! We had a great time playing at this event and hope to be invited back again soon.
