When it comes to weddings, Felix and Fingers are most frequently booked to cover the entertainment from start to finish (ceremony through reception), but many people don’t realize that we also run a multifaceted booking agency as well!  Today’s blog takes us to the gorgeous Greenhouse Loft on Diversey Ave in Chicago Il, where Felix and Fingers provided a wedding Violinist/Piano Duo to perform the perfect sound track for this particular ceremony.

Chicago Wedding – Check out The Greenhouse loft!

Ceremony at the Greenhouse Loft in Chicago

Ceremony at the Greenhouse Loft in Chicago

I’m always excited to play new venues, and the Greenhouse loft is one of those Chicago venues I had not previously had the pleasure of visiting.  The ceremony area for this particular wedding was gorgeous with floor to ceiling windows and a beautiful wood floor.  Where as the wood provided a rustic feel, the Chicago location still gave off an urban-chic vibe. Yet the giant windows let in so much light that it felt as if the entire ceremony was outside.  The Greenhouse Loft really provided a wonderful open feeling that I like to see at ceremonies.  Unfortunately I don’t think my picture does it any justice…but I couldn’t quite stand up and start snapping pics!  Check out their site for much better shots.

Post Ceremony, the wedding guests moved outside to the patio while the Greenhouse Loft Staff efficiently flipped the room from ceremony seating to dinner seating.  Though I didn’t have the pleasure of attending this wedding in it’s entirety, the cocktail hour looked extremely pleasant, meanwhile the DJ geared up for what I can only hope was a fantastic evening!

Ceremony Music Options

The Bride had received Felix and Fingers’ contact info via a referral, and after a few discussions, it had been decided that the best music option was a Piano/Violin duo.  Considering I do much of my playing with a second pianist, it’s always a thrill to be able to work with an instrumentalist.  And being the high end booking agency that we are, F&F has access to some of the best Chicago talent.  Today’s event had me performing with Katherine Hughes, a phenomenal violinist based in Chicago.  Katherine and I performed a number of classic ceremony music selections for the prelude, but were requested to play some more modern selections for the wedding party processional and recessional.  These tunes included Plain White T’s “1234”, Christina Perri’s “1000 years” and Ray LaMontagne’s “You are the best thing”.

It’s nice to see ceremony music favoring more popular selections.  Where as everyone used to always prefer the “classics”, this Greenhouse Loft Wedding was a perfect fit for something more contemporary.

Book The Greenhouse Loft with Felix and Fingers!

Now that I’ve seen the Greenhouse Loft, I’d love to introduce the venue to a dueling pianos wedding.  If you’re in the market for a great Chicago location, definitely check them out!  And of course, if you’re looking for entertainment to match, contact us!  I look forward to our next engagement at the Greenhouse Loft 🙂
