The Columbus Park Refectory wedding had Felix and Fingers admiring yet another example of great Chicago architecture.  This gorgeous building is just perfect for weddings with an atmosphere that is incredibly unique and nostalgic.

Columbus Park Refectory Wedding

Columbus Park Refectory Wedding partyThe Columbus Park Refectory is the perfect event venue.  Part of the Chicago Park District, this building will enchant your guests with its Prairie style architecture.  Gorgeous windows overlook the park’s lagoon and natural scenery.  At this venue, you have the choice of an indoor or outdoor ceremony.  The spacious patio is the perfect wedding set up as is the indoors.  We were happy to find a gorgeous grand piano in the dining room and we used that to play soft music as the guests were enjoying their meal.  Caterers will be happy with the full kitchen which makes hosting here even easier.  If you would like to take a look at this great park district space, please click here.

Black and White Wedding

Besides the keys on our pianos, this wedding was shaping up to have a black and white color scheme.  We don’t think this was the plan but it was pretty cool anyway.  First of all, there is a stylish black and white checkered floor in the dancing Columbus Park Refectory Wedding panda headsspace.  It really seemed to add to the atmosphere.  Secondly, we kept seeing pandas on the dance floor.  Yep, pandas.  Not real pandas, though, just guests wearing panda heads.  Check out the picture and you will see we didn’t make this one up.  We always think we’ve seen it all with all the weddings we do but this was the first time we had pandas dancing the night away.

We had some great requests and made sure to play all of them.  There were some rap enthusiasts so we played some old school and some new school rap music.  There were also some guests who loved the torch songs from the likes of Tony Bennett and Frank Sinatra.  So of course we had to play Frank’s Chicago among other hits made popular by the chairman of the board.  We even had a request for Marilyn Monroe’s I Wanna Be Loved By You.  We’re always happy when we can play some of the classic music from the first half of the 20th century.
