iHotel Dueling Pianos in Champaign IL

It seems like central Il is one of the most popular areas for us to bring our dueling pianos show, and this time we were introduced to the iHotel in Champaign Illinois. I often have a slight concern about wedding venues we haven’t played before (because after hundreds of weddings, I feel like it’s hard to find a venue we don’t know), but the iHotel was a pleasure from start to finish.

Champaign’s iHotel has a large beautiful ballroom that was transformed before our eyes with white linens and scaffolding. What would have otherwise been an average banquet room, setting up “linen walls” made a night and day difference in the look of the room. Throw in some uplights and a custom Gobo and you completely forget you’re in a banquet room.

The cocktails took place in the lobby just outside the banquet hall and beautifully accommodated the large wedding. I always love separate cocktail areas since it makes the banquet hall feel much more special when you first walk in. That was then followed by the formal intros and speeches before the dinner service came out.

Dinner was great, the iHotel staff was great, and we seamlessly moved on to the dueling pianos show.

This was one of those wedding guest lists we always hope for. The highlight for Mike and I was an introduction to butt darts. But what are butt darts you say? I’m glad you asked!

This simple game involved pinching a quarter between your cheeks (fully clothed mind you), waddling to a position above a pint glass, and then trying to release the quarter into the glass. Simple right? And addictive! The reception ended with most of the guys circled up passing a quarter between them for the next round. Maybe not super sanitary, but extremely funny. The iHotel will forever be known to me as the place where butt darts entered my life.
