This Dixon Elks Lodge Wedding was a special event indeed. We headed to Dixon, Illinois to play for the marriage ceremony and reception of Carly and Victor. What a nice group of people. This group could not have been any kinder or more complimentary.
Dixon Elks Lodge Wedding Venue
The Dixon Elks Lodge is the perfect spot for a fun DIY wedding. Our bride Carly’s mother was a wedding planner and did all of the decorations and organizing herself. In fact, she made her daughter’s gorgeous wedding dress by hand. With the spotless Elks Lodge as her backdrop, she turned this venue into a chic and classic venue with long white tablecloths and specialized decor. The Elks Lodge really dresses up nicely and was a great size for this medium to large event. One has a capacity for a large group of 300 and the other seats 125. You can also rent both for an even larger event.
Punk Pop Appreciation Night
When Carly’s best friend gave her speech, she told of the two of them growing up going to Warped Tour. As soon as our performers heard that, they knew they had to play some Motion City Soundtrack, Blink 182 and Yellowcard. We asked the bride’s permission to play these bands and she happily agreed. While shaking her head with an enthusiastic yes, her exact words were, ” If you play Ocean Avenue you will make my entire night.” So, of course, that was one of our first songs. Yellowcard’s Ocean Avenue Had everyone rocking out. This happens to be one of our performer’s favorites and she was thrilled to play this as well as other songs from the Punk/Pop genre.
We had some must play songs requested ahead of time by the bride and groom. These included Blink 182’s All The Small Things and Mr. Brightside from The Killers. This group had a ton of fun on the dance floor to these songs and many more. When it was time to close our show, the couple didn’t want the fun to end and we ended up playing another half hour. We finally closed out with Good Night Sweetheart by The Overtones and everyone left the Dixon Elks Lodge Wedding with smiles on their faces.
