Unique Champaign Backyard Wedding
In these strange times, with some wedding venues closed or at lowered capacity, some brides and grooms are rethinking their special day. Last minute changes don’t have to ruin your wedding though. In fact, we got to perform at a “surprise” and very Unique Champaign Backyard Wedding in Champaign, IL that ended up being one of the funnest of the whole year!
Champaign Surprises in Champaign, Illinois!
The bride and groom loved surprises and kept many of their guests (and us!) guessing for most of the night. Apparently, many people didn’t even know this was a wedding. That is until the officiant came out! After the ceremony, a local taco truck pulled up to serve some amazing food and drink. A kind-hearted neighbor lent their huge Champaign, IL backyard for the event. They apparently took almost a month to get all the landscaping looking perfect and even added a huge koi pond! We didn’t get to feed the fish too much before the last big surprise of the night literally roared in the distance. A group of guests, all in elaborate inflated costumes, rushed out to lead everyone to the dance floor! We didn’t know a huge T-Rex, cow, and unicorn would be such great break dancers, but we’d always suspected.
Party Like It’s 1999
You’d think the inflatable menagerie would be the craziest thing we’d see on the dance floor, but everyone else was just as wild. There was a lot of love for 90s music that night. We played a Spice Girls medley which was later “countered” by a grunge medley. Just about everyone got on the lawn for Will Smith’s Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It but the show stopper was the bride’s favorite song, Linger by the Cranberries with some singing help from the groom himself!
