We had a great time helping raise funds for the St. Jude LaSalle Peru to Peoria fundraiser event. Not only was this a night of fun entertainment, but Jennifer and Jim brought the house down with their show. Felix and Fingers drove out to Senica’s Oak Ridge Golf Club located in LaSalle, Illinois and were met by smiling, familiar faces. It’s always GREAT returning to a familiar venue. We started cocktail hour with Jim leading a hilarious cowbell dance-off. The audience went NUTS. In fact, we’ve performed the last 3 years at this fundraiser. Since this is a repeat client, everyone LOVES us! Every year there is a guest speaker at the fundraiser sharing their story with St. Jude Hospital. This year’s speaker’s story was a sad but touching story about a little girl Lily who had passed. As Mya (Lily’s sister) and Lily’s parents shared Lily’s touching story we played light background music. In all honesty, not a dry eye in the room.
Really Cool Fundraising Ideas
Felix thought it was really a cool idea to have food as an option for purchase. Hence, all the proceeds went to St. Jude Hospital. Senica’s Oak Ridge was the perfect venue accommodating the 300+ guests, two bands and some excellent BBQ available for purchase. This country club knocked it out of the park.
One of the highlights of the St. Jude LaSalle Peru to Peoria fundraiser event was when Mya cartwheeled on the dance floor. She cartwheeled so much, we called her the “Cartwheel Queen”. We asked Mya what her favorite song was. Not only did Mya smile BIG, but she squealed out Fight Song by Rachel Patton. Jennifer immediately began playing it for her. As a matter of fact, what happened next was purely magical. Mya walked out to the center of the dance floor and started dancing BEAUTIFULLY. The ENTIRE ROOM stood up on their feet in AWE and surrounded her in a circle as she danced. To tell the truth, this was one of the most wonderful moments we’ve ever witnessed at one of our shows!
Through requests alone, Felix and Fingers were able to raise over $2,000 for childhood cancer research and the care of St. Jude’s Hospital. We raised an additional $1,000 in a few minutes by playing Mya’s second favorite song, Girl on Fire by Alicia Keyes. Our audience sang at the top of their lungs. They indeed sounded EPIC. All in all, everyone had a great time, danced, sang and most of all made sure this fundraiser was successful, and it was!
