Felix and Fingers recently dueled for the St. Dennis teacher appreciation night, held in Madison, WI. This event celebrated the teachers at St. Dennis Catholic School and was an opportunity for the community to show their support for their teachers. St. Dennis Teacher Appreciation Night
St. Dennis Catholic Church supports more than 2,200 families, and the school teaches 260 students. Every so often, they have a night to honor their teachers and the hard work they put into shaping those 260 students. This event doubled as a fundraiser for the school. Held in the school’s gym, parents and parish members alike gathered to show their support. Tables were set in rows around an open area that served as the dance floor. Dinner, catered by a small local Italian place, was meatless lasagna and shrimp alfredo. Dessert was cannoli, tiramisu, and limoncello. Everything was so tasty!

After everyone finished eating, we began our set. We started with our usual songs but then jumped to I will Survive by Gloria Gaynor and invited all the teachers to the dance floor to dance out their stress. Once the teachers took to the floor, other guests joined them, and everyone danced for the rest of the night.
We got lots of requests, but the most popular genres were country and top 40. At the end of the night, all the teachers got together in a circle and requested Piano Man by Billy Joel. They swayed back and forth, and it was so nice to see this camaraderie. We usually only see this at weddings, but it was clear there is a strong bond between these teachers.
We are thankful to have been a part of this special night and wish these great educators good fortune throughout the rest of the school year.
