A wedding is going to be fun no matter what. Now take an Indie Style Wedding and put it in a boathouse in Lake Ellyn in Glen Ellyn, IL!  That’s what I’m talking about.  The scene was as picturesque as you could dream, with a lakeside ceremony kicking off the festivities with a sense of adventure and excitement in the air. The morning was bleak at best, but just before the ceremony started, the clouds parted, the winds died, and the sun came out to greet us.  None of us could believe the perfect October day we had just been given. Indie style wedding lakeside ceremony

The venue itself was something to behold and seemed to be directly out of a storybook. We set up the pianos on opposite ends of a fireplace and it gave the entire show a great frame for the multitude of pictures that were taken. The bartenders did their duties wonderfully as they served individual flights of beer that were catered to both the bride and groom. The beer centric wedding definitely brought out the craziness in this eclectic group as the requests and the dancing got crazier as the night went on.This was an Indie Style wedding for sure as most of the requests erred more to the side of Dave Matthews and the bride herself rocking cowboy boots all night. We knew she was into Indie music because the playlist she gave us for cocktails consisted mostly of artists and songs I’d never heard of. Coming from a guy who takes all requests, that is quite a feat!Indie style wedding chalkboard sign

Not Another Indie Style Wedding

Another great feature of this venue was its proximity to the lake and the vivid colors and vignette it made for the entire event. It felt like the olden days as the golden light of the sun danced off the waves of the lake as the entire party danced the night away. Since we were all stationed inside of a quaint boathouse, there wasnt exactly a ton of room to lay out all of the food.  Enter in 4, yes FOUR different food trucks. The first to catch my tastebuds was a copper oven pizza truck. Artisan pizza baked right before my eyes! Next on the list was a gourmet taco truck. Need I say more?  And to round out the entree round, they had a smokey BBQ truck serving up heaps of pulled pork and mac-n-cheese.  Lastly, for all looking to satisfy their sweet tooth, there HAD to be a food truck dedicated solely to cupcakes. Decadent isn’t even enough to describe them.Indie style wedding bride and groom

I’m going to go ahead and count this indie style wedding as a “Felix and Fingers Favorite.” It had everything you could possibly need: an atmosphere for rustic enjoyment, a lakeside view, Class A food and drink, and of course, the best Dueling Pianos in this hemisphere!  If you ever get the chance to get to the Lake Ellyn Boathouse, I would highly recommend booking it for anything. Literally ANYTHING. You won’t regret it.
