Most weddings involve lots of music, so I thought long and hard about some of the best music that a couple could use at a Star Wars Wedding.

Star Wars Wedding Ceremony

The only part of the Star Wars Wedding that I’ll use actual Star Wars music from is the ceremony.  It’s mostly classically composed by the great John Williams, so I think it works very well in any wedding ceremony.

Prelude Music

Check out the rest of the music I’m going to use during the ceremony.  The prelude should be composed of all music from the Star Wars films, with the exception of the songs being used elsewhere.

Groom’s Entrance

C’mon…  What guy can’t imagine walking down the aisle to this song.  No Star Wars Wedding is complete without the Imperial March.

Bridal Party Intro:

Nothing will psyche up your bridal party more than walking down the aisle to this heart-pumping music.  It will also really set the scene for the entire day.  The first seven seconds of this song invoke more anticipation than any other song that’s ever been written.  That’s a fact.

Bridal Entrance:

The way to make this work is to have the first section played with closed doors, and right at second :17, the doors open and the bride takes her first step into the room.  There won’t be a dry eye in the house.  This Star Wars Wedding will be underway.

Recessional Song

Here’s another one where timing is important.  When the officiant is saying something along the lines of “I present to you for the first time, Mr. and Mrs Han Solo,” it has to end right at second :18 of this song.  Then the Bride and Groom walk back down the aisle to the rest of the song.  It’ll be epic.  Now onto the Star Wars Wedding Reception!

Star Wars Wedding Cocktail Hour

Cocktail hours are supposed to be the classy part of the wedding.  People aren’t drunk yet, and everyone wants to say “Hi” to friends and family they haven’t seen yet.  Now, an obviously choice would be to just put on a Star Wars soundtrack, but let’s be honest, we’ve already heard a lot of it at the ceremony.  My suggestion is to play a collection of other great John Williams songs from other films.  Here are some of my favorite:

Jurassic Park Theme – Harry Potter Theme – Superman Theme – ET Theme – Indiana Jones Theme – Jaws Theme

Star Wars Wedding Dancing

First Dance

For your first dance, I suggest you don’t dance at all, but instead present a staged one-on-one light saber fight between the bride and groom.  For the big finish, have the father of the bride come out and challenge the groom.

Dance the Night Away

Now I get it – you are a huge Star Wars fan.  So am I.  So are lots of your friends.  However, chances are that many people who attend your wedding won’t be as obsessed as you are.  That’s why I recommend sticking with some great classic dancing tunes, but they way you can keep it a Star Wars Wedding is to put an emphasis on celestial themes music!  Here is a set list to get you started:

Shining Star – Moondance – Fly Me to the Moon – Aquarius (Let the Sunshine In) – Written in the Stars – Man on the Moon – Drops of Jupiter – Total Eclipse of the Heart – Walkin’ on the Sun – Bad Moon Rising – Counting Stars
